On behalf of everyone at Abbeyfields, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our school.
We believe Abbeyfields is a happy school where each child and staff member is special and valued. Every aspect of a child’s development is important to us and we seek to provide unique experiences in a supportive, nurturing and inclusive environment.
Abbeyfields school site is stunning. We have large playing fields, a working allotment, orchard, meadow and access to ancient woodlands. Our focus on outdoor learning provides excellent opportunities to build confidence, and to foster character education and personal development. Our school values of teamwork, good listening, kindness, respect, honesty, hard work and pride are at the heart of everything we do. We have an award winning Outdoor Education Centre on site (opened in September 2021), where the children access not only our inspirational Forest School sessions, but also learning opportunities in science, design technology, geography and art.
The school is located in the Kirkhill area of Morpeth and our children who attend come from a wide range of economically diverse backgrounds. At Abbeyfields, we value our close partnerships with parents and carers, and are committed to being part of the local community. We look forward to working together with you in helping your child to develop during these very special early years. We aspire to provide a ‘level playing field’ for our pupils to ensure we deliver equality of opportunity for all. We work hard to provide a supportive and stimulating environment where every child can reach their full potential and where children can develop independence, confidence, self-esteem and a lifelong love of learning. We have high expectations and seek to impart in all our children a strong sense of responsibility for their own behaviour, and a respect for the rights of others.
The school joined The Three Rivers Learning Trust and became an Academy in May 2017, enabling us to work in collaboration with Trust partners to further improve teaching and learning, school systems and governance.
